The Maison Castle is a wonderful new inn (2018) in the Kuliang Scenic Area, down the hill from the main parking area. It is housed in the former Lacy home, where the Caldwell family stayed when they were on the mountain. Caldwell is famous for hunting the man-eating tigers that were a grave danger to people in villages near Fuzhou, including on Kuliang. The old house has been restored to its old style, but with all modern conveniences, and it is a very special place to stay during your visit. They also have a terrific restaurant, and you can sit out on the porch and look out over the valley while you eat your meal. For reservations, for either the restaurant or to stay at the Inn call 137 6464 0890 (Mr. Dong). Please have a Chinese speaker make the reservation.
The Green Forest Hotel is a beautiful little inn hidden along Route 192 just past the Bank of China in the middle of town, but away from the hustle and bustle. There are two buildings, West and East, which have pleasant rooms. Our favorites are the rooms in the newer building, which have just been renovated in a beautiful style – half European and half Chinese – with lots of pale wood and big puffy white comforters. If you prefer quiet, this is a good place to stay. We love the friendly cafe, with its “tea boat” table where people gather to drink and share their different sorts of Fuzhou teas together. Information for the Green Forest Inn can be found on Tripadvisor.com
The Blue Bamboo is an old favorite in town, with many rooms and views out to the hills. You will find many families with young children here spending their weekends in nature, and there is a cheery aspect to this bustling hotel.
